dr. Tonk Márton

Philosophy historian, university professor, lecturer at the Department of International Relations and European Studies of Sapientia EMTE, and rector of the university since 2021. His research areas—besides the history of philosophical and political thought—include education policy, minority theory, and the history of minority ideas. Author of several monographs, volumes, and scholarly studies. In recognition of his contributions to Hungarian scholarship beyond the borders, he received the Arany János Medal of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in 2020. For his outstanding scientific, educational, and community-building work in organizing, developing, and maintaining the high-quality operation of Hungarian higher education in Transylvania, he was awarded the Officer’s Cross of the Order of Merit of Hungary (civil division) in 2022.
